Why it's called the Rainbow Reef..."Garden Island Resort is a Paradise. When we arrived at the resort, we were greeted by our first names which really made us feel at comfortable. Our luggage was carried up to our room which was decorated with fresh flowers and a basket of fresh fruit. We checked into the dive shop, and that was the last time we handled our gear, the dive crew treated us like royalty. Every morning when we showed to go diving, our gear was all loaded and ready to dive. The dive masters were amazing at finding the reefs, night or day. I wont even try to describe the underwater life because it cant be done. Everyday after diving I would go back to the resorts library of fish I.D. books and find dozens of new fish I had never seen that were everywhere when I was diving. You really are treated like family when you stay at Garden Island and tears are sure to come when you have to leave. Our greatest thanks to every staff member at the resort and to Aqua-Trek for making our Honeymoon a week of pure heaven.  Thank you so much, "

Bula! We were in Fiji last week and planned to dive once, but Garden Island's beachended up doing 7 dives thanks to the incredible sea life and the staff at Aqua-trek. Shane, Joe, and Api all made our diving experience great! The night dive and the shark dive made our whole vacation! We dove the Great Barrier Reef in Australia the week before and the service and scenery was much better in Fiji! We know we will go back soon and dive with Aqua-trek. Please let the staff know how much we appreciate the service we received. Thanks again.

We had our wedding at Garden Island Resort and the managers, staff, and the people from the village were great! They truly put together a beautiful wedding that we will remember forever. It is a beautiful resort that is located far away from the rest of the world. We were there during the middle of the coup and the only affect we saw was that the resorts had a few more vacancies then they normally would have.

The Diving:Soft coral close-up

Reef Check Fiji started monitoring the Somosomo Strait in 2002 with a team led by Fiji coordinator Helen Sykes that included eight Aqua-Trek Taveuni staff members committed to setting up additional survey sites at every dive location on the Rainbow Reef, which they intend to monitor regularly.  Apart from the sheer value of conservation awareness that Reef Check continues to raise, the involvement of local dive operators and their commitment to coral reef health will ensure that management tools will be more available to the local people.
