Have you considered an underwater wedding?  It's our specialty!

Swiss Fiji Divers is nestled on a beautiful white sand beach toward the northern tip of Taveuni, Fiji’s Garden Island.  They service several nearby resorts (including Taveuni Island Resort, Maravu and Coconut Grove), making pick-ups daily.  Diving is in the Somosomo Straits which are about a 30 minute boat ride from the dive shop.  Trips are run daily with their two dive boats, both equipped with radio, echo sounder and GPS. They also carry a full set of professional safety and rescue equipment including a DAN oxygen kit.

In service since 1999, EGI ONE is a twin jet powered 12-meter aluminum catamaran with a toilet, a small galley and a fresh water shower.  There is ample room for 12 divers and all their dive gear plus any other equipment on the large covered dive deck.  The step-off platform with wide ladder makes entries and boarding effortless.

The MOORISH IDOL is a fast 8.2-meter aluminum half cabin boat powered by a 4-stroke 225hp outboard engine that handles up to 8 divers, and was launched in 2000.

Swiss Fiji Divers is a professional dive operation of the highest world standard. Their PADI dive center is equipped with only best rental gear: Mares Abyss regulators, Aladin Air computer consoles from UWATEC (calibrated in both meters/bar and feet/psi), and SeaQuest BCDs with alternate air source and integrated weights. Masks with corrective lenses are even available on request, as are Ocean Reef full face masks.  Quality 5 mm wetsuits, made in the Fiji Islands and even Torpedo underwater scooters round out their rental selection.

Swiss Fiji Divers ensures that you always dive in a safe and comfortable atmosphere, led by professional guides and instructors. Certified divers are required to present their certification card and preferably their logbooks, too.  Morning 2-tank boat dives are scheduled daily and afternoon 1-tank or 2-tank boat dives, night dives or 3-dive day trips (including lunch) can also be arranged.  Nitrox and guided photography and video dives are also available.

Dive Courses from PADI open water to Divemaster, including Nitrox andPersonalized instruction rebreathers certifications are offered in English, German or French.  Swiss Fiji Divers specializes in EFR & DAN Oxygen Provider courses for both divers and non-divers, basic and advanced underwater photography and video courses, and marine biology for divers and non-divers.  Of course, if you have a specialty in mind that’s not listed, just let them know and there’s a good chance they can provide it!

The Somosomo Strait is what put Fiji on the diving map, and it is world famous for its astonishing variety of soft corals. But in addition there is also a vast collection of marvelous and unusual marine life including the blue ribbon eel, all kinds of nudibranchs, large grouper, shark, sea snakes, turtles and manta rays.  The dive staff is quite interactive, and if you let them know what you want to see they will make every effort to show it to you!  Here are just some of the famous dive sites you could see:

The Great White Wall
The dive begins by swimming through a tunnel teeming with fish which can exit at either 10 m/30 ft or 27 m/88 ft. After exiting the Coral tunneltunnel the current will carry you alongside the wall where the soft corals are found in dense concentrations below 15m/50 ft down to 80 m/240 ft. These corals are actually lavender in color, but due to the depth appear to have a pale white glow.

The Small White Wall
A classic coral reef starting at about 8 m/25 ft down to 30 m/100 ft swarming with huge schools of bright blue and gold fusiliers near the top and great macro Nudibranchon the way down, but don’t forget to periodically check the water around you for large pelagics.  Under an overhang at around 10 m/30 ft stop to enjoy a smaller version of the Great White Wall.

The Ledge
T
his site is second in popularity only to the Great White Wall.  It is a pinnacle beginning at 5 m/15 ft and dropping down to 90 -100 m/270 - 300 ft with an overhang alive with different colored soft corals and home to a pair of lion fish. The friendly golden damselfish and clown fish here will come right up to your mask and look in! The pinnacle abounds Sharkwith trigger fish and other reef fish of almost every kind. Look beyond the wideband fusiliers hovering all around and again, peer into the blue for passing sharks and schools of tuna.

Jack's Place
Unspoiled hard corals at depths from 7 m/20 ft to 25 m/75 ft dominate this site, but it also has a wall where moray eels, lion fish and stone fish reside.  At 25 m/75 ft there‘s a white sandy plateau where garden eels softly sway with the currents and occasionally white tip reef sharks stop for a nap. The palette surgeon fish is found only on this dive site.  Great for macro and wide angle both!

The Fish Factory
P
acked with tropical reef fish of every type imaginable, the reef begins at 10 -12 m/30 - 35 ft it drops to 60 - 70 m/180 - 210 ft. There are gigantic schools of bannerfish, golden damselfish and blue and gold fusiliers in their hundreds. On top of the reef titan triggerfish may be seen biting and moving dead coral to build nests in which to lay their eggs.

Rainbow's End
The main attraction here is soft corals in all the colors of the rainbow. From 7 - 9 m/21 - 28 ft the reef drops down to a white sandy bottom at 20 m/60 ft. The reef is alive with nudibranchs of all kinds, sea anemones, brittle stars and moray eels. There are hundreds of fish species including groupers, big Napoleon wrasse, schools of surgeonfish and many different types of parrot fish.

Of course, there are many more dive sites – enough to keep any diver entranced for many, many dives.

Guest Comments:

The dives with Swiss Fiji divers were great - one of the best dive sites we have ever seen and a very professional and friendly service by Evi and Dominique & Team. We certainly will recommend your place to our friends traveling to the South pacific and do hope that you keep it so small and welcoming as we experienced it.
