asawa
Island Resort is a remote oasis of
luxury where you can truly unwind
from the stress of everyday life.
Since 1991 guests have savored it’s
solitude and seclusion, reveling in
the quiet of one of the 11 deserted
beaches nearby or exploring the caves
and coves made famous in the movie
The Blue Lagoon which was shot
on
location here. There are no
other resorts on the island, only a
handful of local Fijian villages
who’s residents are content living in
their traditional way.
Access to
the resort is by air only, and
once-daily transfers are operated by
the resort to their private landing
strip on the island.
Seaplane and
Helicopter charters are also
available.

ust
18 bures mean that a maximum
of
only 36 guests will share this jewel
at any given time. All bures
are sheltered among stately palm
trees and just steps from the water’s
edge. At night the murmur of
palm fronds in the breeze and gentle
lapping
of
waves promise to put you into a deep
and restful sleep. Each bure
reflects a contemporary Fijian style,
featuring thatched roofs, local
building materials, ceiling fans and
air conditioning. Private
outdoor showers as well as indoor
showers, spacious living areas with
King-size beds generous decks,
hammocks, thatched beach huts and
many
other
amenities make every bure an
excellent choice. The deluxe bures
also offer shaded outdoor day beds.
omalagi
is a very private split
level
bure with it's own pool set apart
from the main resort for total
seclusion. An sprawling patio
overlooks the private beach and ocean
beyond. Some of the luxuries
included at Lomalagi are daily flower
arrangements and turndown service,
complimentary
sparkling
wine, exclusive Lomalagi perfume, use
of a CD collection, and a Valet
service at your beck and call for
transport to the Bure Levu (Lomalagi
is separated by about 500 metres from
the rest of the resort).

uisine
at Yasawa Island Resort is
contemporary, with fresh seafood
being a prominent component (lobster
being a specialty).
The resort also claims one of the top
wine cellars in Fiji with offerings
from France, Italy, Australia and New
Zealand (try the 1996 Dom Perignon
Cuvee Champagne).
 ight
on the beach you’ll find the new
Baravi
Spa where a full menu of both healing
and beauty treatments are available.
Choose from therapies from a cool
menthol body pack
(improves
circulation, reduces aching, and
eases fatigue), to a hot volcanic
stone massage to a hydra-firming
facial (a
fast-acting treatment
that firms, lifts, moisturizes and
brightens the skin).
hile
you might be tempted to spend your
entire stay at the Spa or just let
yourself melt into relaxing
environment, it would be a mistake to
miss
out
on the
activities
available. The not-so-active
guests can enjoy private picnic on
one of the many deserted beaches, do
a 4WD safari, visit local villages or
take a
launch
trip to the ‘Blue Lagoon’ caves on
the adjacent Saw-i-Lau Island.
More active pursuits include
snorkeling, catamaran or sailboard
sailing, kayaking or game fishing in
the resort’s purpose-built fishing
boat. For those who want a real
work out, there is tennis (on the
lighted court), beach volleyball and
hiking trails that run the length of
the island.
eddings
are very popular at the resort as
well. Take (or renew) your vows
in a wide variety of settings, from a
bright
sunny day on the beach to a heavenly
ceremony under a blanket of stars.
You can choose a traditional Fijian
ceremony with customary costumes and
decorations, a modern ritual with
orchids and a tiered cake, or just
about anything your hearts desire!
The standard wedding package covers
all the basic requirements, from your
license and minister to the choir,
decorations and set up. Add any
extras you like for a custom ceremony
tailored just for you. Of course
Fijian weddings are legally binding
and internationally recognized.

f
course, diving is always a favorite
activity and Yasawa has a PADI dive
centre with experienced Instructors
and guides that can either ease you
into diving, extend your training or
just take you out for some incredible
dives. There are many
established dive sites around the
island, and exploratory dives are
common. The dive shop carries
many accessories from masks to tee
shirts. Rental equipment is included
in the diving tariff, so there’s no
need to bring your heavy and bulky
gear.
